Have no idea what K’NEX are? Well then look no further! Here I will talk about all the different K’NEX pieces, as well as all their different variations.
The two most basic kinds of K’NEX pieces are the rods and connectors. The rods are the straight pieces and snap together with the connectors to form the awesome K’NEX K’REATIONS you’ll see on this blog. With rods and connectors, there would be no K’NEX.
Each rod is a different color and different length. From shortest to longest, the original rods are (click a thumbnail to open full view):

Each connector is a different color and has a different number of connection possibilities. From fewest to most possible connections, the original connectors are (click a thumbnail to open up full view):

Yellow Connector Gold Connector Purple/Silver Connector
Blue Connector White Connector
Recently, K’NEX has produced different color variations of each rod and connector. Each rod is still the same length and each connector still has the same number of possible connections. They only thing that has changed are the color schemes. In some of my K’REATIONS, I mix up the different color schemes and others I try to keep like-scheme colors together. When I label the different rods and connectors on my fact sheets I will use the original K’NEX colors.
Once you have mastered the basic K’NEX rods and connectors, you can move on to the special pieces. These “special” pieces as I call them will really make your K’REATIONS come alive. These special pieces make K’REATIONS move, make sounds, and enhance the overall appearance of the designs.
There are so many different special K’NEX pieces. Virtually every K’NEX set comes with some special pieces. There are so many different special pieces that I will only list the special pieces, here, that I have used or will use in my K’REATIONS. Here are some basic “special” pieces:
The order of the special pieces show above are the yellow ball, blue spacer, chain link, grey spacer, large rim, large tire, medium tire, red gear, small rim, small tire, white gear, wide large rim, wide small rim, yellow gear, battery motor pack, electric motor pack, triangle panel, square panel, and the track splice.
Once you have the hang of the basic rods and connectors, adding some special pieces will really make your K’REATIONS special and unique.
