STATISTIKS

Each new K’REATION I build has a variety of different statistics that comes with it.  The obvious ones are height, width, and depth.  Those I measure simply by taking a measuring tape and measuring each dimension.

The next statistics that are easily measured at completion time and date.  The completion time I measure by calculating the actual amount of time I am building.  Sometimes I finished a K’REATION within one sitting, while other K’REATIONS I will build a little bit at a time.  Either way, I only keep track of the actual build time.  The completion date is the date that I finish the build, no matter how many days previously I’ve worked on it.

The piece total is probably the most obvious K’NEX stat, but it can be the most tedious to calculate.  Yes, I count each individual piece one by one.  With most K’REATIONS, however, I look for a pattern in the designs and count the pattern once and then just multiply by how many patterns there are.

Other statistics are unique to each K’REATION, like how many DVD cases the Blu-ray & DVD Tower can hold.

The most interesting and unique statistics I keep are the total weight and total piece length statistics.

Some K’REATIONS just won’t fit on a scale and it would be tough to measure the weight that way anyways.  So, the next best way to do it is to count how many pieces there are and multiply the weight of each piece by number of pieces.  It is a somewhat scientific process and my numbers are a good rough estimate considering I only have a scale that weighs in pounds and not ounces or grams.  But nevertheless, this provides a really good estimate.

The other unique statistic I keep is the total piece length.  This stat is simply the total measurement in feet of each rod, connector, and special piece if you laid them down end to end.
